Pogradec welcomes the International Painters' Colony for the 16th

Pogradec, the city of art and culture by the lake, has this year welcomed the International Painters' Colony for the 16th consecutive year. Artists from different countries of the world have become part of this creative meeting, bringing with them their culture, style and experience in a collaboration that turns into a special event every year.

In this edition, around 35 works of art have been created, which will be open to the public for 10 days, creating a bridge of communication between art and visitors, but also between the participating artists themselves.

Korean artist Yeonsun Kim presented her butterfly-themed works, made of metal and aluminum plates. She states that the butterfly is a symbol of joy, ideal, hope and beauty, but also of crossing beyond the visible world.

Materials processed with glaze and coloring, according to her, create a special appearance that shines under the light, giving the work a sense of magic and pure aesthetics.

" These works have the butterfly as their main theme. As you can see, the butterfly symbolizes joy, ideal, hope, beauty, but also the transition beyond the visible world. The materials used are metal and aluminum plates, which are processed with glaze and coloring, creating an appearance that shines under the light. In this way, the magical and beautiful sensation of the shine of metals appears, which the viewer can experience directly ," said the Korean artist.

From the Czech Republic, painter Roman Kharevsky said that this is his first time visiting Albania and Pogradec, while participating in the painters' colony was an inspiring experience.

In his works, he combines figurative elements such as sheep, cats, fish or musical instruments, which represent the story of everyday life. For Kharevsky, collaborating with artists from different countries is a school in itself, which enriches him professionally and spiritually.

" I am from the Czech Republic, from a very beautiful city, Karlovy Vary, and this is a very interesting experience because it is my first time coming to Albania, my first time coming to Pogradec, and my first time participating in this beautiful colony. Working with other artists from different countries is a great inspiration. Every day we talk, every day there is something new, every day we paint in a different style. I usually paint in a figurative style sheep, small animals, fish because there is a big story there, a big story about life. If you look at it, this cat, this man, this fish, this musical instrument is a special style, but I paint this way, the way I feel it. This is my inspiration. Thank you very much to the organizers, thank you for everything, for every person. It is truly a very beautiful exhibition, with very good people. Yes, I love Pogradec very much, it is a very beautiful city ," said Kharevsky.

Meanwhile, Sabine Liva from Latvia, who is visiting Albania for the first time, expressed her amazement by the natural landscape and the hospitality of the citizens of Pogradec.

She said that working in open spaces and natural light gave her special energy and inspiration, offering her the opportunity to learn new styles and techniques from her colleagues. For her, this experience was not only an artistic opportunity, but also a human one, as it created friendships and connections that will last a long time.

It's my first time coming to Albania, and I thank you for welcoming me here. I really liked the natural beauty, the landscape, the warmth and the sun of nature, but also of the people here. Maybe in front of my paintings… it's a beautiful space. My experience this time, mixing with other artists, working together, was very pleasant. I learned a lot of new ideas, new techniques and new ways to see art in relation to the environment. I met a lot of new friends, and this excited me a lot. The studio space was perfect, we had a lot of light, and we could work inside or outside. What I liked the most was working outside, in nature. Yes, I would really like to return to Albania ,” said artist Liva.

This colony has a special importance for the cultural life of Pogradec, because it not only brings international art, but also positions the city as an important center of cultural exchange. For visitors, the exhibition is a journey through different styles, colors and visions of modern and contemporary art.

The exhibition will remain open for 10 days in the city of Pogradec, offering all art enthusiasts a rare opportunity to see unique creations up close and meet artists from all over the world./ CNA
