Magical nights in Korça/ The second edition of the Serenade Festival

The second edition of the “Korça Serenights” festival kicks off in Korça tonight, an activity that aims to become an annual tradition for the city of serenades. The deputy mayor, Benila Themeli, emphasizes for Cna TV that this festival is an old dream of local institutions, which for almost two decades have sought to organize an event dedicated solely to this musical heritage. According to her, over the last two decades serenades have only been brought in the form of musical souvenirs or as a complementary part of other cultural activities. But now, with the “Korça Serenights” festival, the serenade has found a dedicated space, returning with dignity and with full organization by the Municipality of Korça.

 

"You know that for almost two decades, the municipality of Korça has had a dedicated approach to events and in this journey, one of our obstacles was the organization of a festival and an event dedicated to serenade. Because in Korça, in this increased influx of domestic and foreign tourists, those spots in the city that are never left without people and where it is difficult to find free seats, are places where serenades are sung on weekends. So, serenades are an identifying value of Korça and the last recordings were in the late 90s in a show organized by the local television of the city at that time. We have tried to serve those songs of poor quality in the form of souvenirs in these years, or to revive serenades as complementary parts of other activities, but we have not had an event for serenades. We have discussed it with many Korça creators, Pandi Laço, Adi Hila and the right moment had to come, last year, when one of the festivals The new event that was created was Korça Serenights and this year it comes to its second edition , totally conceived, followed and implemented by the municipality.

 

This edition will span three nights filled with music, exhibitions and emotions. The event opens with an exhibition of the guitars of Korça serenaders, set in a symbolic setting in the Old Bazaar, exactly where one of the scenes of the film “Confrontation” was filmed, with the great actor Pandi Raidhi. The guitars of well-known figures such as Ilia Vinjau, Gjergji Peleshi or Naum Turova, as well as other instruments that have been part of Korça families, will be exhibited to the public, bringing a connection between the past and the present.

 

"E fillojmë që natën e parë me një ekspozitë të kitarave të serenatistëve korçarë, ka mandolina të Korit Lira, kitara të serenatistëve si Ilia Vinjau, Gjergji Peleshi, Naum Tërova që nuk janë më, por edhe me kitara të personaliteteve të kulturës korçare si Vangjush Tushi, që nuk njihet si serenatist, por në shtëpinë e tij kishte një kitarë. Do të ketë shumë emocion mbrëmja e sotme sepse do të ketë familjarë të serenatistëve dhe është gjetur një lokacion shumë interesant, një dyqan në pazar që kujton një aktor korçar që ka krijuar personazhin e Pllaton Bubuqit në filmin "Përballimi", i madhi Pandi Raidhi. Në dyqanin e filmit ku Pllatoni kishte dyqanin e vet dhe këndonte këngën "Ta mbash mend sa të rrosh", aty do të ekspozohen kitarat e vjetra të Korçës. Është një gjetje për të lidhur të shkuarën me të sotmen e serenatës."

 

Në natën e dytë, skena do të zhvendoset përpara Liceut Francez, aty ku do të mblidhen grupet që ende e mbajnë gjallë serenatën në lokalet e qytetit. Emra si Jorgjeta Lalazi, Vaskë Niço dhe këngëtarë të tjerë do të performojnë këngë të dashura që çdo fundjavë i japin jetë Korçës.

 

"Do të vijojmë me natën e dytë te sheshi para Liceut Francez, atje do të mblidhen të këndojnë në një mbrëmje shumë të bukur, grupet që aktualisht këndojnë serenatë në Korçë. Jorgjeta Lalazi që vazhdon këndon, Vaskë Niço, e këngëtarë e grupe të tjera që performojnë nëpër lokalet e Korçës dhe çdo fundjavë mbajnë gjallë këngët e serenatës, shpirtin e saj."

 

 

Një nga momentet më të veçanta të këtij edicioni është pjesëmarrja e këngëtarit shkodran Frederik Ndoci. Ky bashkëpunim simbolizon lidhjen mes serenatave korçare dhe jareve shkodrane, dy vlera të mëdha të kulturës shqiptare. Organizatorët theksojnë se kjo është vetëm hapi i parë drejt një festivali të përbashkët mes dy qyteteve, që pritet të realizohet vitin e ardhshëm.

 

"Ku ka më bukur sesa në tre netë të dedikuara, të mblidhen në Korçë zërat më të mirë që nuk janë këtu. Kemi edhe një zë brilant nga Shkodra, Frederik Ndocin, në këtë edicion dhe jo pa qëllim, sepse komunikimi i Korçës dhe Shkodrës, serenatat tona dhe jaret shkodrane janë vlera identifikuese e krejt kulturës shqiptare. Me Frederikun kemi diskutuar që vitin e ardhshëm të bëjmë një festival serenate ku jaret shkodrane dhe serenatat tona do të jenë bashkë. Pra, vlerat tona të kulturës duhen promovuar e ngritur në nivel artistik, që të ruhen edhe në brezat e tjerë që do të vijnë më pas."

 

Mbrëmja gala do të kurorëzohet nën kujdesin e mjeshtrit Josif Minga, i cili ka përzgjedhur këngëtarët dhe ka realizuar të gjitha aranzhimet. Në skenë do të ngjitet Orkestra Simfonike e Forcave të Armatosura, duke e çuar serenatën në një nivel artistik të lartë. Për interpretimin e tyre janë zgjedhur emra të njohur të muzikës shqiptare, kryesisht korçarë, që do t’i japin jetë melodive tradicionale me një dimension të ri profesional.

 

"Under the extraordinary curation of master Josif Minga, who we are lucky to still have in Korça, there will be a gala evening where the orchestra will be the Armed Forces Symphony Orchestra and the songs are all arranged by the professor. The Municipality of Korça is also considering turning the recordings from last year and this year's edition into musical souvenirs, which will be offered to visitors as a way to take home a piece of the city's spirit. This will serve as a promotion of cultural values ??and as a way to preserve the serenades for future generations. According to Deputy Mayor Benila Themeli, "Korça Serenights" is not just a music festival, but a precious stone in the city's cultural necklace, uniting the past with the present and aiming to be an annual tourist and artistic attraction for Korça.

 

"This will be an evening of a very high level, everything will be recorded and we are thinking that the recordings of last year and this edition will be one of the souvenirs of Korça, where a visitor can receive a professionally arranged serenade recorded, interpreted at another professional level. The past and up to the value of today, this is the philosophy of this festival which will become an annual tradition for Korça as the serenade is a precious stone in the necklace of values ??that we as Korça have."

 

The second edition of "Korça Serenights" brings three nights of exhibitions, concerts and a special gala, uniting Korça serenades with Albanian musical values.
