"Korça Short Film Festival" ended this Saturday, with a great success in this 11th edition of its organization. The biggest short film festival brought together 45 directors who brought 45 films to the public. , created so beautifully, with different themes that included current life situations, society problems, with the purpose of giving different messages based on these situations. For five consecutive days, the audience as well as visitors, had the opportunity to enjoy the films with short films that were shown in the cinema of the city. After a very strong competition, there were six awards planned in this edition, awards for which the best films were selected in several categories.

The "Best National Film" went to the film "The Sun", "Best Short Film" to the film "Naked Eye", "Best Student Short" to the film "Hubble's Laë", "Audience Award" to the film "Like Venus", "Best Documentary Short" for the film "Sister of mine", and "Best International Short" for the film "Land of mountains".

It was quite difficult for the jury to choose the 6 best among the 45 films, as the member of the jury Renis Hyka says.

Hyka shows more details about the award that belongs to the best film of this edition, a film from Poland, which contained a mixture of grotesque and drama with a very special language.

"The best prize of the festival goes to the film 'Naked Eye', a film from Poland, which had fantastic filmic elements, of which we as a jury rated it as the best film of this festival. We were all in a mind that this film deserves, even though the festival had other very good films but in our opinion this film made the difference. The film was an interesting mix of grotesque and drama, it also had a very special language. Some of the competitions were real a big debate to decide the winners because as you know art is individual taste, but in the end we have to agree on a film and each award, I believe we did the best."

The German photographer Stefan Peters was also part of the jury of the festival, who gladly accepted the invitation to be part of the festival. Peters has shown details about two of the films that were awarded by the jury, emphasizing that they touch on problems of our society, the problems of employment, facing the unknown, emigration and the difficulties encountered by those who want to leave their country for a other state.

"The award for the best student film at the Korça Film Festival goes to a young director from Lithuania. He is only 23 years old and has produced a wonderful film. It is a situation like in a dramatic theater, where he describes the story of five construction workers.Through this, it tells a lot about the problems our society has, especially how to deal with the unknown.

The international award goes to an Austrian lady, who has also addressed problems of the current society, emigration, with the theme of a father and his daughter who want to immigrate to Austria and for them it is a very big problem. The film is made in the traditional Austrian way, with sarcasm to make you laugh. In the midst of this tragedy, you manage to laugh and that's what makes it special.

For the German photographer, this festival was really a success, moreover, he was lucky enough to see Albanian short films as something new for him but very valuable.

They have done a fantastic job, I watched the last edition and they contacted me to be a member of the jury. I give the best congratulations to the organizers who brought the festival to Korça. It is very important and even has the quality of other countries of the world. For me it was quite nice to see Albanian films because it was something new for me and very interesting."

For the director of the festival, Gladis Bica, this edition was surprising due to the increase in the audience, where in Albanian films the hall was full and the audience enjoyed the great work of Albanian directors. According to him, Albanian films were created at the level of foreign films, and this remains very positive, seeing that the quality has increased significantly from year to year.

"This edition was successful for us this year, all the films were shown, the children's program was also realized. What was surprising for us was the increase in the audience from last year, especially in the national competition where the Albanian films were. The hall was almost full, people liked the films as we saw from their reactions that the films were enjoyed. I hope and believe that next year we will have twice as many films. Year by year, the quality of Albanian films is increasing. but in general the films we had were in the same category as the international ones, especially the film that won the national competition but also a documentary that won the audience (public) award. Of course the world has a big industry and sometimes the budgets are bigger, but anyway thanks to the support of the National Center of Cinematography, from the technical side we will no longer have big differences."

"Korça Short Film Festival" is one of the organizations that has already become a tradition for the southeastern city. The festival closed its 11th edition, while the organizers promise that next year they will bring more films, not only foreign but also Albanian. As a city of art and culture, Kor?a should be successful in cinematography as well./ CNA
