"Pogradeci '24'", the International Colony of Visual Art, was held for the 15th year in a row in the city of Pogradeci, where 22 artists from different countries of the world, such as Kosovo, North Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Poland, England, Iraq, Korea and other countries joined together to develop their art.

Artists created wonderful paintings in various techniques from September 9 to 11, taking inspiration from the lake city.

Nature, air and people are some of the elements that these international artists had as a source of inspiration after visiting touristic and historical destinations, according to organizer Saimir Ahmeti. Meanwhile, the exhibition will have its next stop at the international festival of "Skampa", which is expected to take place during the month of October.

"It is the 15th year of the international visual art colony. A beautiful tradition has been created in this city that gives love and inspiration. There are 22 artists from all the Balkan countries, we also have from Lithuania, South Korea, England, etc. There are artists who stayed and got inspiration from Pogradec. The special technique is that of the artist from Korea, who worked with aluminum as a strong worker. Everyone loves Pogradec and it is something that is felt in them air, it's about nature and people. It's a kind of feeling, but we can't say exactly what it is. The exhibition will be open for two weeks, supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Pogradec. In general, we leave the theme free; if we were to leave it with a certain theme, maybe the artist would not feel so free to give his best", declared Saimir Ahmeti.

Among the many and loyal artists of the painters' colonies is the painter Marjana Goxhabelliu, who expresses the emotions of painting in a place like Pogradeci, stressing that the landscapes offered by the lake are among the most unique and cannot be found anywhere else.

"Pogradec is one of the most beautiful and beloved cities I have visited. I like nature, but also the people are among the wisest I have met. Every time I hear that the International Art Colony is organized in Pogradec, I come first, because here everything inspires you. It's a magic of its own. This time I brought compositions. I think I've captured the spirit and the color of the city; we've exchanged experience and we had a great time with each other. We even had some artists who were among the best dancers and we had a great time. For me, the sea is easier to stamp, while the lake is more i difficult. Today, the lake seemed to me as if there was a black part that I could not catch", said Marjana Goxhabelliu.

Jola Kitkowska from Poland and Lina Sami, of Iraqi-English origin, are two of the artists who have become part of the painting colony, who are impressed with what they found in Pogradec.

"It's my first time here and I'm very surprised how beautiful this place is. In this exhibition I brought a painting of a surreal woman, as I like to mix reality and imagination like a dream world. My work often includes a bit of reality and a little imagination. The lake, the mountains, the nature here in Pogradec are everywhere and this city gives you the feeling of peace and quiet, because here they can find inspiration for the paintings bright, I like to create a strong look and a clear palette," said Kitkowska.

"I have visited Albania since 2018, so for many years I return every year during the summer and stay here. I have participated in these activities before during the 6 years that I came to Albania. Also, I had a private exhibition in Pogradec in 2019, so I am no stranger to this city. I have two paintings exhibited today, which are a combination of my roots and modern art", declared Lina Sami.
