Democrat Ilir Alimehmeti left open the possibility that in the local elections, the Democratic Party, as the largest opposition party in the country, could also be in a coalition in the race for Tirana. 

Invited to 'A2 CNN', Alimehmeti said that the DP will come up with its own candidate or even a joint candidate coming from an opposition coalition, while emphasizing that the DP's approach is not towards an independent candidate.

"Berisha actually said that we will not go with an independent candidate, so it is the approach of the political party. There was no talk of specific names. Mr. Binaj, who has made a fruitful contribution to the Democratic Party in a difficult period, may also be on the way.
