May 11th Elections/ Rama: EU, fundamental issue of the electoral campaign,

Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke about the May 11 elections, stating that there has never been an electoral moment like this one with such specific geopolitical weight.

Rama underlined that it has never happened before that the EU has become a fundamental issue of an electoral campaign.

He emphasized that the train of history should not be missed as it does not stay at the station for long, referring to the country's integration into the EU.

"It has never happened before that the EU has become the fundamental issue of an electoral campaign. These are the most historic elections from '91-'92 onwards. '91-'92 were to confirm another system, while these elections are Albania becoming part of a new international system."

We are the embodiment of the will of nearly 800 thousand Albanians who, with the vote of the Diaspora, can reach about 1 million Albanians. We will make this strength available to everyone, regardless of the differences we may have when talking about one issue or another, in the end we must be ready to make the SP available to those who share great goals with us.

There has been no electoral moment like this with a specific geopolitical weight because I believe that since the first pluralist elections, these are the first elections that have geopolitical importance for Albania.

For the first time in my experience, the opportunity to join the EU is real, tangible and current. We have never questioned it, but I believe it has never been doubted that Albania should be a member of the EU. Never before has something been as concrete and current as today. A window has opened that will not always remain open, and the circumstances have aligned with ours, and as a result of the achievements we have made, we have the opportunity to seize this moment.

This is one of the moments where the train of history passes in front of us and we must be aware that the train of history stays at the station for very little.

"We cannot miss this train, we must not and we will not miss this train. We must talk to people about changing this moment," the prime minister said during the meeting with the SP candidates for the Tirana district./ CNA
