New details emerge from the Albania-EU Intergovernmental Conference to be held on July 14 in Brussels.

It is learned that the green light has been given for the closure of negotiations for the first three chapters of Albania's membership in the European Union, more specifically:

The Committee of Permanent Representatives of the Member States of the European Union (COREPER) today approved the Common Position of the European Union on the provisional closure of Albania's accession negotiations for Chapter 25 "Science and Research", Chapter 26 "Education and Culture" and Chapter 30 "External Relations".

The closing of Chapter 25 "Science and Research" evaluates Albania's work and achievements to strengthen the ecosystem of scientific research and innovation for development, to further increase investments in knowledge and technological development, to advance the implementation of the Smart Specialization Strategy (S3), as a roadmap for the transformation of the Albanian economy towards the European Single Market, as well as to deepen integration into the European Research Area.

The closing of Chapter 26 "Education and Culture" evaluates Albania's work and achievements in modernizing education policies, oriented towards the European Education Area, promoting inclusiveness and quality at all levels of education and vocational training, supporting youth development and culture, as well as progress in aligning with European education objectives.

The closing of Chapter 30 “External Relations” evaluates the work and achievements, with Albania's strategic line of action “reliable partner of the European Union”. Through the approximation of international agreements with the trade policy and the position of the European Union in foreign relations, Albania demonstrates its readiness and contribution to strengthening the role of the European Union. /CNA
