4 million euros for Kanye West's concert/ Berisha: Rama used the emergency

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of using the Council of Ministers' reserve fund to finance the Kanye West concert, with the aim, according to him, of improving the government's image.

In a statement to the media, Berisha said that the emergency fund should only be used to deal with extraordinary situations, while he considered its use for artistic activities unacceptable.

According to the leader of the Democrats, 4 million euros from the reserve fund were earmarked for the organization of the concert of the American artist Kanye West. He compared this to the financing of the Giro d'Italia stage in Albania, for which he claimed the government spent 7 million euros.

Berisha also raised accusations that ministries and schools were asked to compile lists of employees and students to attend the concert, claiming that tickets were not sold as expected.

"Rama is giving millions of euros from the emergency fund for a concert to spread hatred towards him, this is a serious and irresponsible act."

And two words to close. For 4 million euros, taken from the emergency fund of a country with great fire potential, for a singer, this constitutes absolutely one of the most serious, most irresponsible acts.

The Council of Ministers' reserve fund is only used in national emergencies. But Edi Rama has extended the reserve fund to his personal account.

On May 10 and 11, 2025, he gave the Giro d'Italia 7 million euros, Albanian taxpayers' money, to steal citizens' votes, to lie and deceive citizens for votes.

And now, in this difficult moment of general popular hatred towards him, of the explosion of general national anger towards him, of Albanians everywhere, he is trying to diffuse hostile sentiments with the concert of a very well-known singer, but who also has his own problems in his statements and assessments.

However, I have nothing against his concert, but I will never accept that it is done with Albanian taxpayers' money. This is an act that only a man capable of saving his own skin makes any decision.

I would like to inform you that all ministries and schools have made lists to send employees and students to the concert, since the tickets have not been sold. So, in addition to the 4 million, there will be several more million, because the employees will be paid those tickets.

"That will be paid for the concert with which Edi Rama believes that by hugging Kanye West he will be able to improve his ruined image, he will be able to calm the general hatred that emanates from the souls and hearts of Albanians towards him," said Berisha./ CNA
