Crackdown on illegal possession of weapons/ Three arrested in Tirana, weapons

Three people who were traveling armed, kept weapons in their homes with the intention of selling them, or had violated security measures, have been arrested in Tirana.

According to information, within the framework of 2 operations conducted against illegal possession of weapons, 3 firearms and hundreds of cartridges were seized.

Police announcement:

Tirana Police Department/Two more operations against illegal possession of weapons have been finalized in the last 24 hours.

3 weapons and hundreds of cartridges are seized.

Three citizens were arrested for traveling armed, carrying weapons in their homes with the intention of selling them, or violating security measures.

In continuation of the operational and non-operational work, with the objective of identifying and detaining citizens who possess and/or sell firearms, and consequently, pose a risk to citizens and public safety, during these 24 hours, 2 operations in this field were finalized. Specifically:

- the services of the Special Force "Eagle", in cooperation with the Crime Investigation specialists of the Police Commissariat No. 4, finalized the coded operation "Shenja", as a result of which citizens Sh. S., 31 years old and Sh. Sh., 43 years old, were caught driving a vehicle on Dibra Street, and were put in handcuffs, because during the search, 1 firearm (pistol) with ammunition was found on the 31-year-old, while during the verifications it resulted that the 43-year-old was under "House Arrest" security measure;

-Crime Investigation specialists of Police Station No. 6 finalized the operation codenamed "Kodra", as a result of which citizen FH, 69 years old, was arrested, after during the searches in his apartment, in the village of Kodër Kashar, 1 firearm (pistol) with ammunition and 1 shotgun with 112 cartridges were found, which were suspected of being possessed with the intention of selling.

The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action. /CNA
