The "non grata" brother of Veliaj is declared internationally wanted

The police authorities in North Macedonia have today published on the official website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs the announcement of the declaration of international wanted status of the "non grata" brother of Erion Veliaj, Artan Grubi.

The request for the international wanted declaration of the former high official was issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Skopje, after the Basic Court approved on Tuesday evening the request for the appointment of the detention measure for Mr. Grubi and Bajrami.

They are suspected of involvement in the manipulation of public procurements for the Lottery and the illegal allocation of licenses to gambling companies and casinos.

The authorities in Skopje say that Grubi is in Kosovo, where he escaped on Sunday, while former director Bajrami took refuge in Kosovo a few months ago, according to the police.

Local media reports that Mr. Grubi has engaged a lawyer and that "he would return to the country if he is tried in a free state".
