Prime Minister Edi Rama commented today on the trend of Albanians leaving for Europe.

Rama, in a conversation with citizens, evaded responsibility by saying that this trend did not originate in his governance.

Rama further said that Albanians are more justified, due to the closure during communism.

Rama also mentioned the numerous cases of Albanians returning to the country.

"The trend of Albanians leaving for Europe neither originated in our governance, nor is it at the stage where a visible turnaround has begun. It is enough to see what is happening in other countries, all EU countries, it is the moment of membership and balancing the country within the EU framework.

We have been closed and are more justified in seeking our fate when we leave the other side, just as there are Albanians who leave, there are also those who return.

As more and more Albanians return to Albania to vacation twice a year, they are also returning to invest.

"Whoever says they have the handbrake to stop this historical trend either doesn't know what they're talking about, or they're lying because this isn't happening," Rama said. / CNA
