Balla receives the Ambassador of the United Kingdom/ "Historic moment for

Minister of State for Parliamentary Relations, Taulant Balla, received the Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Tirana, Nick Abbott.

At this meeting, Balla emphasized that the Assembly should approve the amendments to the Electoral Code as soon as possible so that the CEC has the appropriate time available to provide emigrants with everything they need to participate normally in the parliamentary elections of May 11.

"While many compatriots are registering as voters from abroad for the May 11th Elections, it is important to approve as soon as possible in the Assembly the amendments to the Electoral Code on covering the expenses by the CEC for sending and returning by mail the ballot and other information materials; extending the deadline for candidate registration to 60 days to allow more time for sending and returning ballots; as well as for the procedure for counting and evaluating votes from abroad.

"The time left is very short and the Assembly must provide solutions with the aim of ensuring the full success of this historic moment for democracy," the minister emphasized during the meeting, Balla said. 

At this meeting, the mission of the law enforcement agencies of the two countries was also discussed, while the excellent relations and cooperation between the two countries were appreciated. /CNA
