Lawyer Kreshnik Spahiu has stated that Prime Minister Edi Rama will reconcile with his Greek counterpart Kyriakos Mitsotakis in the summer, after tensions over the arrest of the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri.

In a link to the show "Now with Erla Mëhillin" on Euronews Albania, Spahiu said that Rama did not dismiss Beleri as he would first have to let him take the oath, which, according to him, would cause him to take political costs.

He also said that by not dismissing Beler, Rama left an open door with Greece.

"For 3 months, I have adhered to only one statement. In the summer of 2024, I said that Rama will end the conflict with Athens. And I said this based on the fact that for the first time during his government, Rama did not announce elections in a municipality, despite the arrest of the mayor.

He has done this 5 times during his administration, based on Article 62 of the Law on Local Government, that for violating the Constitution, the government dismisses the Mayor, for announcing early elections.

If he dismissed him, he should have let him take the oath, and he did not want to let him take the oath and then dismiss him, because he did not want to take political responsibility, because he wanted the political nuts to be peeled by the hands of justice.
