Increasing capacity and surgical services/ Rama inspects the works of the

This Monday, Prime Minister Edi Rama continued inspections of the works at the Regional Hospital in Gjirokastra. Rama was accompanied by the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Albana Koçiu.

Prime Minister Rama evaluated and suggested several ideas on details of the project, so that the building maintains its historical character.

"Being a building that has a historical character, you have to be careful with the colors. As long as you are going to completely return it to where it was, as an architecture, this should be preserved. This gray with white is good. It is a historical building. This has a hood system, so it is also energy efficient," said Rama.

Meanwhile, Minister Koçiu said that the Hospital provides services to 60 thousand residents of the district and offers specialties such as surgery.

"The Gjirokastra Regional Hospital has started works since December of last year. A complete rehabilitation of a 4-room building is foreseen, very important for the entire Gjirokastra region. It is an investment that is being carried out with state budget funds with a value of 4.7 million euros. It foresees rehabilitation in three phases for the reason of not interrupting health services, that is, the provision of health services, which is important and is one of those issues that we consider every time we reconstruct hospital buildings. The hospital provides services to a full 60 thousand inhabitants of the region and offers specialties such as surgery. Here where we are currently, we are in the pediatrics service, while the building is 4-room, the floor minus one has the radiology service, while the second and third floors are the surgery service. Meanwhile, a complete rehabilitation of the building is already foreseen, plus then also the furnishing and equipment with the latest technology that will give the opportunity to all doctors who "...work here, - there are 153 medical staff serving in this hospital, - where 45 are doctors and the rest are nursing staff, who serve in 13 services, main services such as surgery, pathology, infectious diseases, pediatrics, we have the emergency service", - said Minister Koçiu. /CNA
