Recount/ Alimehmeti: Suspicious appearances and lack of transparency in polling

The Democratic Party candidate for Tirana, Ilir Alimehmeti, said that the strongest evidence is the videos published by the Central Election Commission (CEC), which show serious irregularities in the administration of ballots.

He added that the situation is particularly worrying in areas such as Kamza and Paskuqani, where the counting is still ongoing and where discrepancies and errors have been observed in every polling station. Alimehmeti raised the fact that he is himself a counter for electoral force, which is insufficient for Alimehmeti.

According to the Democratic candidate, this situation endangers not only the integrity of the electoral process, but also citizens' trust in representative democracy.

He called for a full and independent analysis of the entire electoral process, as well as for greater commitment from relevant institutions to guarantee a fair and verifiable process.

"We must be clear that the real evidence is the CEC videos first and then what happened with the ballots, they have been left there for a month. We are getting footage from the voting center that we see, many people present with people entering the box, with ballots that come out with some, who gets four, throw three with some who gets two and so on. Of course, the credibility in this process is extremely low. So in this aspect, Tirana certainly cannot be excluded, but it is still too early because it is a very large region. And to talk about a specific CEAZ such as the Municipality of Kamza and this is not over and must still continue with the counting in the Paskuqan area, it is too early to draw a conclusion, we are saying from this part here. What has been noticed is that there are errors plus or minus, so every voting center results in problems, why have they come to us, we want an analysis. When it comes to the end, we want a complete analysis. To be honest, there should have been more many observers from political forces, not just one as allowed per monitor, it is too few for such processes, so there would need to be more. At the same time, I remember that the mandates and candidates of the open list are also being counted, which means that the difficulty is greater for both the counting group and the observers. There were all possibilities. There were only two counters, not four, and the number of observers was only 8, so we have a reduction from political forces. I think there is a reason why this has been reduced so much. There could have been two people from each political force for each box for each table. I believe there is a reason for this, because it gives you the opportunity to stay, because one person cannot stay and thank you to all our observers, who are staying there for 10 hours at the moment. A person needs to move a little during the day, they need a small break , "said Alimehmeti./ CNA
