At the 19th meeting of the Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee, Minister of State, Taulant Balla, delivered a long and detailed speech on behalf of the Albanian Government, conveying the message that Albania is more prepared than ever to become part of the European family. 

On behalf of the Government, Balla expressed deep gratitude for the continued political support of the European Parliament and for the commitment that the latter has shown to our country: 

"We welcome your recent motion for a resolution, which rightly recognizes Albania's unwavering commitment to EU integration," Balla said.  

Citing the concrete progress that has been made since October 2024, the minister said that 24 out of 33 negotiation chapters have already been opened. 

"We see reforms not simply as a checklist of technical conditions, but as a moral and political obligation, benefiting our citizens above all else," Balla emphasized. 

According to him, Albanian citizens have confirmed their overwhelming support for the European path: 

"Over 90% of Albanians, both at home and in the diaspora, support EU membership. For Albanians, 'the sun rises in the West' and the parliamentary elections of May 11, 2025 confirmed this pro-European orientation," Balla said.

One of the main points of the speech was judicial reform and the fight against corruption. 

"On November 27, 2024, Albania completed the vetting process for 805 first-instance judges and prosecutors, an extraordinary achievement," Balla declared. 

Balla mentioned the strengthening of SPAK and the creation of an Integrated Case Management System, which aims to increase transparency and efficiency in the pursuit of cases. 

"We aim to close accession negotiations by 2027 and secure full EU membership within this decade," Balla said./CNA
