On Tuesday, the Council of Legislation will meet to review the decision of the Constitutional Court for the socialist MP Olta Xhaçka.

The opposition demanded holding an extraordinary session of the assembly on this issue, but the Speaker of the Assembly Elisa Spiropali specified that she would not call a plenary session without first having a report from the Legislation Council on the Xhaçka case.

With or without an extraordinary session, the mandate of Olta Xhaçka is expected to open the debate in the new parliamentary session that starts on September 2.

The issue of the mandate of the socialist deputy has been wandering between the parliament and the Constitutional Court for almost two years.

Questions about the mandate of Olta Xhaçke arose after her husband's company received the status of a strategic investor for a tourist hotel, which, according to the opposition, constitutes a conflict of interest./CNA
