Damian Gjiknuri, the co-chairman of the Electoral Reform Commission appears in the media "determined" to continue with this reform.
He accuses the opposition of obstructing the continuation of this important reform. There are not a few cases where Gjiknuri mentions the laws, the Constitution and their respect.
But the socialist congressman forgets his connections with "McGonigal", the now-arrested former senior FBI official.
Gjiknuri "demands" electoral reform, while he himself should have been a person under investigation for the McGonigal case.

The questions that arise are: How can a person involved in the "McGonigal" affair be expected to carry out such an important reform as the Electoral one? How can Gjiknuri be expected to carry out this reform by cooperating only with Basha's soldiers? How can you expect Electoral Reform from a man who has been accused of having a relationship with Mirel Mërtir for the incinerator affair? How can Electoral Reform be expected from the "earthquake" of file 184?
But this time let's focus on the McGonigal file.

On February 6 of last year, Damian Gjiknuri came out and admitted out loud and face that he met with former FBI official Charles McGonigal. Gjiknuri admitted on a TV show that he met with McGonigal, but said that this happened after Rama met with the former FBI official.
"I met McGonigal, after the Prime Minister met him", he said, implying that his meeting with the former FBI official was ordered by the head of the government. In this way he was tempted to remove responsibility from himself, but he did not succeed.
But what really happened?
When Charles McGonigal came to Albania, he also met Prime Minister Edi Rama (this fact was also accepted by the Prime Minister himself). However, he also held meetings with Gjiknuri, when the latter held the position of Minister of Energy and Industry.
Let's go back in time...
McGonigal, when he came to Tirana, took a walk with Dorian Du?ka, the former adviser to the prime minister, and with Damian Gjiknur, he met with dozens of other businessmen for the exploitation of oil-bearing areas.
In the conversations disclosed by the FBI and from the charges brought by the prosecutors, in addition to the financial benefits, McGonigal had other benefits related to development permits, that is, in our oil-bearing areas.
The story showed that businessmen were stripped of their licenses and development permits and then given to people who were wanted by the McGonigal influence.
This clearly shows the role of Damian Gjiknuri in this story, the respect of laws and transparency towards citizens. The "Elector's" fraud should be investigated by SPAK. Not only him but all those involved in the McGonigal case./ CNA
