Reports of dismissal from the Energy Ministerial/ Ministry of Infrastructure

Today, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy has issued a reaction regarding the news of the Albanian government's exclusion from the Energy Ministerial.

In its response, the ministry denies the news and says that there is no decision from the EU regarding Albania.

Further, in its response, the ministry says that these news are deliberate slander aimed at tarnishing this sector.

The Ministry emphasizes once again that there is no official Energy Community report on Albania.

reaction

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy expresses its deep concern about malicious disinformation and completely false and intentional news regarding the energy sector.

We emphatically clarify that there has not been, does not exist, and no decision has been made by the EU (its bodies) towards Albania.

Any claim in this regard is a pure media fabrication. The discussions held recently have been only at the level of the Energy Secretariat, a technical structure specifically created to assist non-member countries and promote the development of the energy sector in line with the standards of EU countries.

Albania is one of the countries with the most consistent and positive performance in implementing the Energy Community Treaty, an assessment clearly reflected in relevant international reports. Attempts to present the country as problematic are false and malicious.

During the Energy Secretariat meeting held last week, general measures were identified that must be fulfilled by all member states (of this Treaty) by July 2026. In the case of Albania, the requirement consists of the approximation of the law on the energy sector with EU Regulations, a normal and planned process, for which the draft law and other acts have been completed, published for public consultation and some approved. The presentation of this procedure as a “punishment” or “exemption” is a blatant manipulation of the facts and a pure, deliberate, and coordinated attack on the Albanian energy sector.

The statements and articles published in recent hours constitute deliberate defamation, aimed at tarnishing one of Albania's most successful sectors. This success is clearly documented under Chapter 15 of the negotiations with the European Union, where the energy sector is considered among the areas with real and measurable progress.

We strongly emphasize that no official Energy Community report mentions penalties or causes for non-fulfillment of obligations for the Roskovec TPP, floating thermal power plants, the interconnection network or others. Their inclusion in these news items constitutes a deliberate manipulation, which has no factual basis and only aims to damage Albania's image in the energy field and in the European integration process, clearly realizing the malicious plan of various factors that are active at these moments.

Responsible institutions will not tolerate misinformation and will react to any attempt at public disinformation and smear, guaranteeing transparency, correctness and continuity of reforms in the energy sector./CNA
