SP report on SPAK/Manja request: In terms of justice, it has turned into a media

The head of the Laws Committee, Ulsi Manja, presented the SP report on Belinda Balluku's immunity in the plenary session. Manja said that presenting the report is not a formal procedure, but a constitutional responsibility of the Assembly.

Further, the socialist MP stated that what should have been a matter of justice has turned into a media tribunal. Manja stated that today it is important for the Parliament to maintain a clear stance and separate politics from justice. Today's decision, according to Manja, is not an ordinary vote but a decision-making that disrupts the balance of power.

The Head of Laws stated that the Assembly is committed today to establishing a constitutional filter that is essential for maintaining balance.

"It does not mean that the presentation of the report is a formal procedure, it represents a constitutional responsibility of the Assembly. What should remain a matter of justice has been transformed into an overloaded political debate, into a media tribunal that contradicts the fundamental principle, that of the presumption of innocence. It is important that the Assembly speaks clearly, to separate politics from justice.

The Albanian Parliament is not facing an ordinary vote today. We are facing a decision-making process that disrupts the balance of power in a democratic state.

"We are invited today to conduct a constitutional filter of the request, and this filter cannot be formal. It is essential for maintaining institutional balance," said Manja.
