The British Embassy has shared a message shortly before the start of the plenary session in the Assembly, where SPAK's request for Belinda Balluku's immunity is expected to be voted on.
Through a response, the embassy emphasizes that while parliamentary immunity should protect democratic processes, it should not be an obstacle to equal accountability before the law.
Full reaction:
The British Embassy stresses the importance of preserving the rule of law and judicial independence, and recognizes Albania's progress in judicial reform since 2016, including the establishment of SPAK.
The Executive, Judiciary, and Legislature remain equal partners in supporting this progress as part of Albania's goal of achieving EU membership.
