DP presents report on Balluk's immunity/Bylykbashi: Parliament does not

Democratic Party MP Oerd Bylykashi presented the opposition's report on Belinda Balluku's immunity in the plenary session.

In presenting the report, Bylykbashi said that the five opposition members on the Mandates Council recommend that MPs vote in favor of approving SPAK's request.

Bylykbashi stated that the exercise of constitutional responsibility by the Assembly should only aim at protecting parliamentary activity.

The democrat further said that immunity should not become a shield for impunity.

 

" Five members of the Council recommend that the MPs vote in favor of approving the request of the Special Prosecution, for granting authorization to replace the security measure for MP Belinda Balluku. The exercise of the constitutional responsibility by the Assembly to grant authorization should only aim at protecting parliamentary activity. Immunity cannot and should not be transformed into a wall of impunity or obstruction of justice. The Assembly does not have the competence to assess the merits of the case ," said Bylykbashi.
