UN report on Albania/Meta: Police leaders, deeply incriminated with gangs

The chairman of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, in an appearance for the media, said that the taint that was given to Albania in the UN report on drugs is a consequence of the cooperation of the government and the police with crime.

Meta says that the police leaders have become one with the traffickers and that the heads of the police forces are deeply incriminated with these gangs.

According to him, this was confirmed by the publication of the facts that showed the involvement of some policemen in the trafficking of narcotics in Shkodër.

"This situation, very aggravated, comes because the government has become one with the traffickers and the police, and especially its leaders, have been deeply incriminated with them, as was seen in recent days with the large group of police in Shkodër that was part of of this traffic.

This situation, deliberately left out of control by the government, has also forced the American DEA to ask for cooperation from the citizens and to open special lines of communication with them ", says Meta.
