Rama criticizes the EU from Luxembourg / "It has been unfair to us"

Prime Minister Edi Rama at the joint press conference with Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto and European Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi after the Second Albania-EU Intergovernmental Conference, did not fail to make some criticisms of the EU, as according to the head of the government it had been unfair with Albania. He added that Albania's membership in the European Union is a matter of life and death for Albanians.

"Three times we were humiliated one after the other. We were ready, EC said we are ready and then the dynamics as Peter mentioned behind closed doors were such that three times we were humiliated. But what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, a German philosopher said. So we came out stronger and here we are. We know that the road ahead is long and old habits don't go away easily and the road can turn into a road with obstacles again, but for us there is no other way, no future. Everyone should understand that when Albanians fall in love, no one can stop them", said Rama.

Rama spoke with positive notes about the reform in justice, while emphasizing that Albania has made a reform that no other EU country has made before joining. 

Rama, in his speech, repeated that it took Russia's aggression in Ukraine for the European Union to understand the importance of the Western Balkans./ CNA
