Prime Minister Edi Rama gave an interview to the German media "Berliner Zeitung", where, among other things, he talked about the immigrants' agreement with Italy.

Rama said that the Albania-Italy agreement can serve as a model to find long-term European solutions.

"The EU has two types of borders: internal and external. And the Western Balkans is at the center of everything. During the 2015 refugee crisis, migrants came into the EU through Greece. Then we continued through the Balkans – again outside the EU. - in Hungary. It is different when refugees come directly to Albania. In my opinion, the issue of migration requires a pan-European solution. Migration cannot be stopped for them doing so is politically short-sighted. But you have to manage migration wisely, and that includes opening up to young people who want to live and work here. Because European societies are getting older," he said.

However, the head of the government declared that he would not agree to make the immigrant agreement with other countries.

The Prime Minister declared that the agreement with Italy is unique.

"I think it's always good to talk to each other. Not talking, on the other hand, is always bad. It would even be a good idea to talk to Putin. But if you ask me if Albania will make an agreement second similar to another country, I tell you: No, this is unique and applies only to Italy, I say that for two reasons: there must be long-term European solutions.
