"Grandma used to say a happy neighbor, a happy home"/ Rama: This is
Prime Minister, Edi Rama

The Prime Minister, Edi Rama, during his interview with the German media, "Berliner Zeitung", spoke about the tensions between Kosovo and Serbia.

Asked by the German journalist how Albania has relations with the other countries of the Western Balkans, Rama said that you cannot choose your neighbors and you must always work to improve relations with them.

On the other hand, Rama said that he has changed his approach to Serbia, so he decided to go to Belgrade to restore ties.

"Neighbors are neighbors, you can't choose them. But you always have to work to improve and maintain your relationship with them. My grandmother was a wise woman, she had no formal education, but she was an avid reader. And she always said: Happy neighbors, happy home. That's why I completely changed our approach to Serbia. We were completely separated until I made the first visit to Belgrade, 68 years after the start of the last war, to restore ties with Serbia.

Of course, we have our differences, especially when it comes to Kosovo. Serbia still ignores the reality that Kosovo is a separate and independent state. And there is no return. But if we want to give the next generation a better life, we have to agree to disagree on this issue. This should not prevent us from working together on other issues, because there are many common interests. For example, even if Serbia is close to Russia and China, which Albania will never do, we still need a stable peace," said Rama./ CNA
