Rama, request to the Ministry of Justice and the KLP: Take immediate action

Prime Minister Edi Rama, through a communication on social networks, announced that he has asked the Ministry of Justice and the KLP to take immediate action against prosecutor Elsa Gjeli.

According to Rama, the prosecutor has caused harm to the Republic of Albania by not initiating a criminal case against a subject who, without permission, built a small tourist village in the middle of Theth, becoming a problem for the community.

For Rama, prosecutor Elsa Gjeli is unworthy of continuing to be paid by Albanian taxpayers.

"A prosecutor in Albania, before dealing with an environmental crime and a crime against public property, a crime against an area legally protected by the specific law of the Republic of Albania, gets bogged down in a mess like the one I read and which is part of an inexhaustible psychic cycle in the form of a decision not to initiate a criminal case.

Meanwhile, that entire community feels violated by an individual who has built his tourist village without a permit right in the middle of Theth, and meanwhile, for Mrs. Gjeli, it does not constitute a criminal offense. Mrs. Gjeli is the culmination of a not-so-short chain of links made up of scandalous decisions by prosecutors.

I have asked the Ministry of Justice to take immediate action against Ms. Gjeli, who has let the state, the structures that try to maintain the boundaries of the law, down the drain, and is unworthy of being paid by Albanian taxpayers.

I have requested that her case be forwarded to the KLP, which should look at the great damage that the failure to initiate the criminal case has caused to the Republic of Albania and see whether or not Ms. Gjeli is worthy of continuing to be paid by Albanian taxpayers.

"This is just the first case, they are paid more than doctors, teachers and police officers and with their incompetence they shamelessly betray the interests of the Republic of Albania and the citizens of this country," said Rama./ CNA
