SP MP Petro Koçi has called the resignations in the Municipality of Vlora an offensive against the Republic of Directors.

Through a status on social networks, Petro Koçi emphasizes that the same thing should happen in Fier.

He said there are dismissive, arrogant and often corrupt directors.

"I have been waiting for this offensive against the Republic of Directors. Dozens of ministers and deputies have been replaced, but not the directors. They remain the same! Arrogant, inconsiderate and often corrupt. In September 2020, when I took office as Chairman of the SP Fier, I hit the local and central administration hard. 

Some corrupt politicians tried to translate this almost daily attitude as division. But the result was seen in the 2021 elections when Fier, unlike other units of the region that plunged into a clear decline, received a result that preserved the votes of 2017, if we count of course the numerous invalid votes due to confusing ballot papers.

This result, when we only had straw keys in our hands, proved that the people wanted justice and service. Many people thought that Edi Rama had sent me precisely to crack down on corruption, which is why they voted for us with great confidence. But the real and corrupt dissidents of the Socialist Party did not sit idly by. They began a witch hunt against anyone who openly supported my political criticism of corruption in the administration.

It was not permissible for the Chairman of the SP to be liked because otherwise he would suffer. In one case, they fired a cleaner who, with political innocence, clicked likes not only on local officials, but also on the Chairman of the SP. Erion Braçe, who was in charge of the matter, had to be fixed elsewhere. The story then got ugly after the elections when, in a public statement, I denounced the scheme by which the strongmen of Fier seized public finances in tenders and procurements of state entities in our territory.

The heads of the SP Administrative Units were ordered not to come to the next meeting that was regularly called by me. Only 2 of them did not respond to the corruption order. It was naively assumed that this act would harm me.

In fact, this was a serious act that hit the party internally. At the time, I did not make it public, but I asked for strong intervention from above. I know that President Rama reacted to the perpetrators of the political incident when he later learned of that act of impudence.

The fight against corruption unites the party, purifies it and makes it more credible to the public. Its defense weakens its moral power and reduces its legitimacy. Suffice it to mention the 5D affair. Unfortunately, there are still today some of these "socialists" who have become rich over the years who continue to call the fight against corruption a division that harms unity.

"That's why I strongly support this initiative of Edi Rama. Fieri is also looking forward to it. To get rid of the stain of the compromised counting of preferential votes for female candidates, this ugliness of politics as old as prostitution itself," writes Petro Koçi./ CNA
