Analyst Andi Bushati commented today on the trial taking place in The Hague against former KLA leaders.

Invited to 'Syri TV', Bushati emphasized that the entire court procedure constitutes a shameful process.

Bushati added that this process has also begun the rewriting of history regarding the role of KLA leaders.

"I believe that those men who are in The Hague are not guilty. But the legal charges that are made against them are one thing and the way they are being defended is another. What Rubin said today was not a coincidence. It was the line of defense that Hashim Thaçi's defense has taken in The Hague.

Thaçi does not obey commanders, he was simply a spokesman for the commanders. He was a Foreign Minister of this army. So he had a minor role.

When these were taken into custody, the movement 'Freedom has a name!, The KLA has the name of these men' started. But if freedom has the name of these 4 men, then they were decisive and not spokespeople for the commanders.

My fear is that, no matter how the trial ends in the spring or later, - Ishalla are innocent, they will return home... - but this process, no matter how they are convicted, is starting to rewrite history on the role of the KLA leaders. When Hashim Thaçi comes out and says it, no one believes me.

I believe the fable that the KLA was not a force that obeyed Thaçi. And he may be right about his legal defense, but legal defense shatters the myth that this was the army of Hashim Thaçi and Kadri Veseli. They were – and I believe it is true, as Rubini said today – the political spokespeople for a movement that was patriotic, chaotic, scattered and with cells.

I don't believe that Ramushi convinced Hashim that we would do this action. Ramushi would take his family and go where his head told him to. But this rewriting of history that is happening strengthens the myth of the KLA. Everyone has been a patriot in their own area. Someone in one area and someone in another, but it diminishes the myth of those who tried to privatize what the KLA represented. I don't know, this may be legally beneficial for Thaçi and Veseli, but I don't know how much it serves the myth that they have built these 20 years. For me, it shatters the myth....
