The Deputy Chairman of the Tirana Municipal Council, Dorjan Teliti, stated today that considering the situation and the time available, the Democratic Party should come up with a candidate for the Municipality of Tirana as soon as possible.

In an interview with A2CNN, Teliti stated that it will be a decision of the DP leadership.

Teliti added that in the coming days, the governing structures from the leadership and presidency will make the relevant decision on who will represent the opposition in this electoral race.

"Since these are early elections, the time for the primaries is not promising. For me, we should not waste a single minute of time, we should come out with the candidate as soon as possible. To go out on the ground with the citizens an hour or more in advance. We must be with the citizens with the team, the program and the vision to convince them why we are the best alternative. This is valuable if we are to be subject to normal elections.

 It will be a decision of the DP leadership. It will be a difficult decision, because there are dozens of names that are worthy of representing the DP and the entire opposition in this race. We have excellent candidacies not only to represent, but to win the Tirana race. The leadership will have difficulty choosing because I assure you that the names are one better than the other.

 We have to wait and see who will receive the trust. In the coming days, the governing structures from the leadership and the presidency will make the relevant decision on who will represent the opposition in this partial electoral race for the Municipality of Tirana.

"I don't understand why there is this delay. An hour earlier we should have convened the Municipal Council to dismiss and address the Council of Ministers to open a vacancy and the CEC to notify the president to decree the election date," said Teliti./CNA
