DP MP Ina Zhupa, during her speech in the Assembly, explained the reasons why the Democratic Party is against the draft Assembly calendar.

One of these reasons, Zhupa mentioned the failure to convene a meeting of the Mandates Council regarding the immunity of MP Belinda Balluku. She further added that the parliament is serving "as a political shield for the corrupt" and for the interests of the majority.

"The opposition in the Conference of Speakers has maintained a clear position on why it did not accept this draft calendar. This Assembly, in an unprecedented manner, does not convene the Council of Mandates, even when 5 members of the Council of Mandates request it. In which parliament does a convened meeting end with a message? This should have been the fundamental issue of the Assembly. The alibi of the Socialist Party that we are waiting for the Constitutional Court shows that the parliament is a shield for the interests of the government. In the Constitutional Court, there is no issue about the immunity of a deputy. None of us has understood what the suspension or not of Belinda Ballukur has to do with the immunity of the deputy. You are turning the Assembly into an anteroom of the Prime Minister's Office. The interest of citizens today is that no corrupt person has immunity, that justice acts. Any citizen you can ask feels in danger when funds are managed by people who the justice system says are stealing from them. There is not a day that goes by without news that a road collapses or a tunnel. And you come here and say come and vote on a draft calendar. Can you tell us where the DP's request for an interpellation with the Minister of the Interior is for the gas that was thrown at the protesters. How is it possible that the opposition's draft laws are left there for 4 or 5 months, while the majority's are introduced quickly.
