"Territorialja" meets without the opposition/SP addresses the Assembly

The opposition did not participate in this Monday's meeting of the territorial reform commission. The co-chair of the commission, socialist Arbjan Mazniku, said that under these conditions they will address the Assembly so that, according to him, an unblocking mechanism can be created for the commission, requesting that there no longer be two co-chairs.

"This is the fourth meeting that the opposition has not attended, we have lost very important time for a reform, which is in a hurry. Considering that the next local elections take place at the end of April or in May 2027, it is very important that this reform is concluded, as is the best European practices, about 1 year before the elections, therefore our goal is to remain faithful to this principle, to conclude them by July of this year.

Based on this logic, on the urgency we have to achieve the objectives, but also on the extraordinary need we have to achieve them, we asked the Parliament last week to change the way the committee was formed, without changing much, by adding a member from the majority, in order to create an unblocking mechanism. This does not mean that the opposition will not be in the committee, it will be welcome in all processes, in all steps, in all discussions, its 8 seats are what they are", said Mazniku.

Earlier, the leader of the socialist group, Taulant Balla, warned the Democrats that in case of absence from the committee meeting, the Socialist Party will request changes to the composition in the Assembly on Tuesday./ CNA
