The Democratic Party has sent a request to the Attorney General, Olsian Çela, for the verification of the Mayor of Malësi e Madhe, Tonin Marinaj.

DP declares that Marinaj has been charged by the Italian Anti-Mafia Prosecutor's Office as the head of a criminal organization of international drug trafficking.

For this reason, Democrats are seeking verification under the Marine Decriminalization Act.

"On June 5, 2015, the Regional Anti-Mafia Directorate, of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic, near the Court of Florence, represented by the prosecutor Dr. Giulio Monferini has announced the closure of the preliminary investigations against the investigated persons, where it turns out that the citizen Tonin Marinaj, born in Albania, on 05.12.1966, is in the role of founder, instigator and leader of a criminal organization consisting of more than ten members , with transnational characteristics, with operational bases in Albania and Italy, systematically, professionally and continuously engaged in the export to the Italian territory of large quantities of marijuana for retail distribution by members of the criminal organization. The investigations were carried out within the framework of criminal proceedings no. 1615/2010, no. 14109/2010 and no. 15892/2011 of the Antimafia Prosecutor's Office in Florence.

According to the information, the episodes of marijuana-type narcotic trafficking are described in detail, as well as the collaborators for carrying out this activity, namely: (i) First episode: The head of the criminal organization Tonin Marinaj organized and directed the importation into the Italian territory and the distribution to the members of 50 kilograms of marijuana in Florence, on 29.05.2010; (ii) Second episode: The head of the organization, Tonin Marinaj, organized and directed the importation into Italian territory and distribution to members for sale of no less than 75 kilograms of marijuana, in Florence, on 14.06.2010; (iii) Third episode: The head of the organization Tonin Marinaj organized and directed the importation into Italian territory and the distribution to members of 42 kilograms of marijuana, part of a quantity of 388 kilograms of marijuana stored in Florence, in Florence, on 23.07.2010 . During the control carried out by the Police, a 9 mm caliber pistol and 100 grams of cocaine were also found in this warehouse", the DP emphasizes, among other things.
