"Drug money raised prices to the stratosphere"/ Berisha: January 24

DP Chairman Sali Berisha, in today's speech in Lapraka, stated that the money earned from drugs led to the increase in prices.

Berisha stated that what he called "drug barons" became all-powerful, even to the point of appointing deputies and determining election results.

"We were cursed, I tell you. How can I say this, Edi Rama's lobbyists said. But we didn't turn back. We were protecting your interests, because that drug lord was making you miserable. Those euros that cost, 1 euro that cost 135 lek, went down to 96 lek.

And thousands of you, thousands and thousands of workers lost their jobs because export companies closed. Those euros of poison that came from drugs increased prices to the stratosphere. Those euros of drugs that came from drugs reduced by 30-40% the money that came to you from your family members from abroad. The drug barons became all-powerful in the country. They appointed deputies, appointed ministers, determined election results. We could not retreat. We told the truth and this has made us invincible. Our mission, our mission is to protect the national interest at any cost and without ever wavering", said Berisha.

The leader of the Democrat Party then spoke about the January 24 protest, which he said has extraordinary importance. Berisha stressed that the protests will not stop until the Democratic Party wins.

"And what is most important, it has been proven that the axis of evil of all evils, of all these evils, has the name Edvin Droga, Edi Rama, Rama-duro. It has been proven that organized crime does not allow Albanians to vote. It has been certified. It has been certified that elections in Albania are not held between parties, but between the state, the narco-state and the parties. All of this has been proven now. Now the right is on our side. Courage is on our side.

We are on the verge of victory. And we, like we overthrew a dictatorship in '90, like we ousted those who came in rebellion in '97, will oust them from power, to pave the way for the free vote of citizens, for the victory of the opposition. This protest that we are organizing is of extraordinary importance.  Friends, you have endured a lot, you have sacrificed a lot, you have suffered a lot. But today there is hope. Today we have achieved what you did not think of two years ago. Today the right is on our side. Today the only hope of Albanians is us, it is the Democratic Party.

Today our sacrifice is required. But, if this is true for all Albanians, for the citizens of Tirana this is three times more true. Never before have you had more in your hands for Tirana and Albania than this time.  And I am confident that the citizens of Tirana will be at the forefront of this peaceful uprising that will wipe out this anti-Albanian, criminal regime from the face of the earth, this regime that governs with the blackest, most criminal methods.

A Prime Minister who takes and hacks the computers of prosecutors, to see if his crimes are written there. We should not wait, we will not wait for these problems to be solved for us, neither by the prosecutor, nor by the judge, nor by anyone from outside. We will solve them ourselves, we will solve them ourselves and we will not give up at the earliest opportunity.  We will face the streets of Tirana until the victory of the Democratic Party. I guarantee you! I guarantee you that each of you is 10 times stronger, braver, more courageous than 100 government thieves", said Berisha. /CNA
