The Democratic Party's candidate on the open list for Tirana, Ilir Alimehmeti, said today that the vote counting process from the May 11 parliamentary elections in the Tirana District had major irregularities.

Invited to a television studio, Alimehmeti stated that as a candidate he had indications of these irregularities.

Alimehmeti also focused on the processes being developed regarding this topic by the competent institutions.

According to Alimehmet, the path he will follow is the institutional one.

"The count had two processes; the first was the number of mandates that was carefully considered by the political entity because the public interest is also greater, the name does not matter. And the second moment was the candidates of the open list who came into play at a second moment. We had our observers. And from these people we have indications of major irregularities. I have my institutional path and I have addressed the CEC with a series of remarks and evidence, which they have judged not to see as if they are rejecting the request with a legal artifice, and they have not said anything about the evidence itself. But the fact that they returned and are requesting a recount means that there is full support from the DP for this and on the other hand there are definitely irregularities. We would not have any complaints either, if there were no irregularities. People are much clearer than institutions", - said Alimehmeti./CNA
