The Advisor for Economic Affairs in the Democratic Party, and at the same time the Deputy Chairman of the Tirana Municipal Council for the Democratic Party, Dorjan Teliti, in a statement to the media, called on the prosecution authorities to begin investigations into the abuses of assets purchased with Tirana taxpayers' money by the Mayor-in-Chief Anuela Ristani.

Also, Teliti, on behalf of the opposition councilors, requested that on Tuesday afternoon, when the next meeting of the Municipal Council is scheduled to take place, an item be added to the agenda on administrative accountability by Ristan and a discussion on this scandal where instead of Tirana's money going to the construction of nurseries, kindergartens, schools, or financing transportation for teachers and students, it is allocated to financing the private interests of senior executives.

"Months pass, mayors change, but habits and abuses do not, they remain the same."

We had and continue to have abuses with the finances and assets of the Municipality of Tirana.

Just two days ago, the courageous journalists of the show "Piranja" on Syri TV provided the public with clear and indisputable evidence, footage of how the acting mayor of the Capital City, Ms. Anuela Ristani, abused assets purchased with Tirana taxpayers' money.

In voice and image, we saw how not only was the Mayor-in-Chief not held accountable for the serious violation committed in the continuous and unjust use of the Municipality's resources for her personal interests and those of her relatives, but we also saw her unethical attack, even with high levels of nervousness and extremely threatening tones, against journalists who were doing their job.

According to the published footage, the behavior of the mayor, who is in command of Tirana, constitutes abuse of office, use of state property for family benefits, and a serious violation of the ethics of a public official.

The Democratic Party calls on the prosecution authorities to begin investigations into the denunciation carried out by the Piranjat show. Also, on behalf of the opposition councilors, I request that the day after tomorrow, Tuesday afternoon, when the next meeting of the Municipal Council is scheduled to take place, an item be added to the agenda on the administrative accountability of Ms. Ristani and the discussion on this scandal published by the Piranjat show, where instead of Tirana's money going to the construction of nurseries, kindergartens, schools, or financing transportation for teachers and students, it is allocated to us to finance the private interests of senior executives.

Also, the Democratic Party demands the immediate removal of Ms. Ristani from the position of acting president and at the same time the dismissal of Veliaj an hour ago from the Council of Ministers.

Tirana deserves different, and change will come with free and fair elections, with early elections for the leadership of the largest municipality in the country.
