"I informed about the worrying developments in the country" Balliu met

The Head of the Democratic Party's Organization, Klevis Balliu, shared details from meetings with representatives of the Bundestag and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe through a post on social networks.

Balliu writes that during the meetings, international support for Albania's path towards Europe was emphasized.

Balliu further says that he informed his interlocutors about the May 11 election process, which he says was characterized by numerous irregularities.

 

“ Meeting with representatives of the Bundestag and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe: Joint commitment to democracy and European integration.

It was a special pleasure to meet the member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Mr. Koloman Brenner, as well as the member of the German Bundestag, Mr. Bern Rützel (SPD).

During this fruitful meeting, we exchanged views on the crucial importance of strengthening democratic institutions and intensifying efforts against corruption and organized crime — challenges that lie at the heart of Albania’s European integration process. The sustained support of our international partners for the country’s European path was emphasized, which remains conditional on our unwavering commitment to guaranteeing the rule of law, transparency and the functioning of the rule of law.

In this context, I informed my interlocutors about the recent worrying developments in the country, including the electoral process of May 11, which was characterized by serious irregularities and flagrant interference by elements of organized crime in the service of government interests.

"I expressed the full commitment of the Democratic Party to protect democratic standards, to guarantee free and fair elections, and to continue uncompromisingly denouncing and dismantling any corrupt or criminal act that undermines Albania's European future ," Balliu writes.
