Prime Minister Edi Rama held an election meeting in the town of Kuçova today. In his speech, Rama emphasized the impact of votes in the May 11 parliamentary elections, as well as the role of the opposition and new parties in this race.

 At the beginning, Rama said that the entire region has entered a new development dynamic.

"Today, even here we are, in a public space that was a request of your community, in the ruins that were there until some time ago. I assure you that we will continue to support the municipality and the region of Berat as a whole. It has now entered a new dynamic," said Rama.

Rama said that the fourth mandate for the SP is for the fulfillment of a historic mission, such as EU membership.

"Like all of Albania, the fourth mandate needs something greater: the fulfillment of the historic mission of EU membership. To understand how important the vote is, you must understand how the EU functions. From the first day we entered from dictatorship to democracy, we have wanted to enter that door," said Rama.

Rama stated that for the first time since the fall of communism, Albania has the opportunity to cross the threshold of the EU.

"It is the first time that we can cross the threshold of the EU. That door has been opened and closed for years. We have been given the opportunity to sit at the table and close the negotiations in 2027. When we took office, Albania was at the very bottom. When I started meeting EU leaders, they did not trust, did not value and did not respect Albania," said Rama.

In his speech, Rama did not hesitate to mock the opposition, along with the small parties participating in the elections for the first time.

"We must follow the advice of those who are in the swamp. The new parties are only new in the age of their leaders. They say they will immediately go to early elections. We cannot tell the EU that we are dealing with a swamp. There is a special species and some others that want early elections. And who knows how many years we have to wait", said Rama. /CNA
