The member of the presidency of the Democratic Party, Grigels Muçollari, has reacted to the arrests of the directors of the municipality of Tirana, by order of SPAK.

For Muçollari, the arrests show that under the leadership of the mayor Erion Veliaj, corruption has reached a record never seen before.

He listed the corruptions of the Municipality of Tirana from that of incinerators, to graves and water supply with the 5 D file.

The member of the Presidency of the DP emphasizes that the thefts have been recorded and proven on every front where the public funds of the capital's taxpayers are spent.

The recent arrests in the Municipality of Tirana show that under the leadership of Erion Veliajt, corruption has reached its highest peak, a record never seen before.

His closest collaborators, the main leaders of the Municipality turned out to have given up accepting bribes in every procurement, and out of greed and gluttony, decided to take the tenders themselves, creating a construction company. From 20 percent in hand, they went from getting 100 percent of the money.

Thefts in the Municipality of Tirana have already been documented and officially proven, from the incinerator, to graves, roads, water supply, and every front where the public funds of the capital's taxpayers are thrown.

With this shocking level of theft, Erion Veliaj will go down in history as the most corrupt Mayor in the country and beyond. However, he is still silent. No reaction, and no accountability even though today his main aides are in prison.

The illegality in which the Municipality of Tirana has sunk is not an internal issue of the SP, or someone's personal issue. But it is a concern and interest of the citizens of Tirana. Erion Veliaj and his team have lost the right to manage the taxes of the citizens of Tirana, they have lost the trust to leave in their hands the budget and the biggest power in the country, after that of the Prime Minister.

Let's consider for a moment the argument that there is now a renaissance, when scandals break out. We assume that Erion Veliaj did not know anything, and that he likes football, he has a passion for sweet fruits. Even with this wretched alibi, the mayor is again unable to exercise the authority to oversee affairs. And as such, there is no way to arrange this entire territory and hundreds of millions of euros in the budget.

This situation requires solutions, not postponement and deterioration. Tirana urgently needs a new leader. Citizens should have their say when they see what the Municipality does with the money collected from their pockets./ CNA
