Democrat Ilir Alimehmeti expressed today his belief that the Democratic Party has all the possibilities for a winning result in the race for the Municipality of Tirana.

In a television show, Alimehmeti said that for the opposition it is important that the change of the system starts from the capital, to continue in other areas of the country.

Alimehmeti also shared his stance on the position of the Socialists in this race, accusing them of stealing the elections.

"I think that the DP has all the possibilities for the Tirana Municipality. There is no kind of discussion that scares them. Even if you look at the May 11 elections, the weakest result of the SP was in Tirana. I remember that Edi Rama himself was the campaign manager here. The Tirana district has the weakest result for the SP. This is where the change begins. In this situation where we are talking, we are not afraid. Even though we have been attacked, this is our reality. There are several culprits. These people want to steal with laws, with VKMs. The culprit is the one who takes money from your pockets.

I can tell you that last time I was very clear both within the forums, saying that this is not an electoral code in favor of the opposition. The reality has emerged. Change starts from the capital, don't wait for it to start from the outskirts. There is as much space as you want to work. Rama's method was channeling the opposition, removing its seal. This wound was caused by Edi Rama, by people who worked for him, perhaps even infiltrated us.

"Rama cannot be put in prison for the right to speech. Now there is no law, it is punishment without law. This is the reality. We cannot say that this is accepted in a state that calls itself a democracy," said Alimehmeti./ CNA
