Grigels Muçollari has called his candidacy in the May 11 elections a difficult challenge as he was aware that they would not be fair and free.

Despite this finding, Muçollari states that he had not imagined that the government's illegal machinery for buying and capturing every vote would be so massive as to make it impossible for citizens to be judged freely.

"When I entered the race for deputy on the open lists of the Democratic Party, I knew it would be a difficult challenge. It would not be a free and fair election, without a doubt. We had no illusions. But I had no idea that the government's illegal machinery for capturing, pressuring, and buying every vote would be so massive as to make it impossible for citizens to exercise free judgment."

Under these conditions, despite all the efforts, the endless meetings and communications, despite touching every area, with a fantastic program that had the shape and dimensions of a person, of each person, change did not happen, because change was forbidden to happen before May 11.

Even when citizens were welcoming, expressing sympathy and support, behind them stood a patronage figure or a government tentacle that had stripped them of their right to choose, that had in some way bought their will.

"From this great deformation, nothing good will arise or develop for society," he writes.

Muçollari further expressed his gratitude to every citizen who voted for him. He emphasizes that after the elections, a deep reflection is required, both by society and by the DP.

Muçollari said that in addition to the analysis, the priority remains the documentation of massive violations in the May 11 elections.

"However, 5,323 citizens and residents of Tirana trusted me and put their mark on my name. I am infinitely grateful."

After these elections, we need a deep reflection as a society and also from us as the Democratic Party. If there is no longer a free and fair vote, will we accept this, as a country, as a nation? Denouncing the electoral farce is a necessity. It is vital. Faced with such a responsibility, we must react and behave at this height. We have things to correct, we have opportunities to grow and, above all, we have potential and qualities that we must put into motion.

"We have an obligation to offer society free and fair elections, improving every day, analyzing every day, even today, when our priority is to document the massive violations in the May 11 elections," concludes Muçollari./ CNA
