Ilir Alimehmeti was one of the most voted candidates in the race for Tirana on the open list of the Democratic Party.

He previously stated that the lists could be made even better.

Asked in an interview whether Sali Berisha should resign after losing these elections, Alimehmeti stated that processes have stages and cannot be rushed.

"The stages cannot be ignored. Processes have stages, initially there is the process, there may still be recounts, there are Electoral Colleges, etc., when the process is over, we will have an analysis."
