DP candidate seeks Arjan Ndoja's mandate: Gender quotas must be respected

The ASHM candidate in the Durrës district, Andia Ulliri, has appealed the results to the CEC, claiming that the gender quota was not respected.

"Your action to declare Mr. Arjan Ndoja, who is ranked first on the list with preferential votes, elected is contrary to the law and constitutes a violation of the constitutional principle of gender representation. In cases where the ranking does not result that starting from the head of the list, one in three names belong to the less represented gender, then the third candidate on this list and subsequently one in every three names belong to the less represented gender according to the number of votes they received. The interpretation made by the CEC is unsupported by the law and by any decision of the Regulatory Commission. We are dealing with a unique list, which should guarantee that 1 in 3 winners are from the less represented gender," Ulliri's complaint states, among other things./ CNA
