Lubonja: Soros' money helped certain politicians, including Rama

Analyst Fatos Lubonja, in a television interview, criticized the role of the Soros Foundation in Albania, arguing that instead of strengthening civil society, it became closer to the government and politicians, especially Prime Minister Edi Rama.

Lubonja said that initially Soros' presence in Albania was justified by promoting an independent civil society, but in reality, funds that were supposed to go to strengthening democracy were used to support a political class close to the foundation.

" Instead of investing in civil society, these people invested in a political class that was closer to them and connected with politicians, with Edi Rama and others. All the funds that civil society should have received to become a controller of democracy, they merged with the government and became partners with it ," said Lubonja.

He continued his criticism by emphasizing that even in the US, organizations funded by Soros are not independent, but politically linked to liberals.

"You have an Edi Rama who said 'where is civil society to put flowers on their grave' and yet Soros' son called him a visionary politician. How can both of these stand together," he concluded./ CNA
