Diaspora vote/ Assembly approves extension of identification document deadline

The Assembly approved today with 76 votes in favor the extension of the deadline for electronic identification documents for voters from abroad.

This was also the issue of the day of the plenary session held in the Assembly. Many discussions were held on this issue today in the Assembly by the majority and opposition MPs.

Earlier, the Parliament announced that two issues would be discussed in today's session: two normative acts of the Council of Ministers.

The acts aim to extend the validity of identification documents of Albanian citizens living and working abroad until the end of May.

The extension of the validity of expired ID cards and passports until May 31, 2025, is done to enable immigrants to participate in the May 11 elections./CNA
