The mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, has issued building permits for buildings and towers in Tirana without criteria.

In fact, it has often been stated by politicians or analysts that the construction in the capital is being used to launder money.

And after drowning Tirana with towers and concrete, Veliaj has worried us and complained about the procedure of building permits in the villages.

He stated that a mountain of papers is required for the houses in the village, so he asked for the easing of the procedures.

Veliaj said that this is a concern of all local units, regardless of political beliefs.

"It is very important that we hold this Consultative Council, as an opportunity for cooperation between local authorities and our government. I believe that I also speak on behalf of my colleagues in the opposition because it does not matter if the apartment is in Kavajë, in Tirana, in Kukës or in Fushë Arrëz, it is a house in the village and requires the same mountain of papers, the same architect, the same license , the same key to access the electronic system, as a hotel in Qerret or Tirana, or as a hotel in Vlora and Saranda. It is a very big problem, it requires a tremendous amount of work. The procedure for permission is the same, as for a house in the countryside, as for a large infrastructure in the city, an iconic hotel, so I believe that we are at the ideal moment to address the issue", emphasized the mayor of Tirana.

He made this statement at the last meeting of the Consultative Council between the Central Government and Local Self-Government./ CNA
