"The state has failed here"/ Shehu: Cases of corruption and

Democratic MP Tritan Shehu has today leveled accusations of institutional failure, also referring to the fire situation.

In an interview on 'Syri TV', Shehu also mentioned several cases of corruption in Këlcyrë, Memaliaj, Tepelena and Gjirokastër.

Shehu declared that there is a complete collapse of state institutions.

"It's not just the municipalities that have failed. The state has failed here. Social institutions, central and local institutions have failed here. Here we have a failure and a complete collapse in state institutions, just as we have a failure in healthcare, just as we have a failure in education, just as we have a failure in water supply. We have a failure everywhere, even in fire protection. And this is clear evidence of the state's failure situation.

Like Këlcyra, where over 3 million euros were spent on a water supply and a water storage tank, it is without water. Why? Because the money has disappeared due to corruption.

Just like the electricity lines in Memaliaj, in Tepelena, in Gjirokastra in rural areas, everywhere... They are from the 70s and all it takes is a gust of wind and two drops of rain and the entire area is left without electricity, just as fire protection or firefighting failed this time.

"So, we have a complete failure of the state, we don't just have a failure of local government. It is a failure of the state as a whole. The state has failed here, from the center to its suburbs, to its local areas," Shehu said. /CNA
