"We have supported the justice reform"/ Balla: Diaspora is the hope

The Political Leader of the Socialist Party for the Diaspora, Taulant Balla, declared from Crete that Saturday's meeting in Chania is the first of this magnitude held by an Albanian prime minister on this island.

In a television interview, Balla, while greeting the Cretans, invited them to participate in Saturday's meeting. Balla thanked all compatriots for the support they are giving the Socialist Party for a historic mandate, not only for the SP, but for our entire Albania, to move to the final stage of the crowning of a 30-odd year work, as he expressed it.

Balla stated that the diaspora is the hope and faith that will give the Socialist Party the right number for a qualified majority, bringing to these elections an offer full of young people.

"In our national team of 187 candidates, there are many boys and girls who are part of a team. What the SP has in these elections is a renewal with new arrivals and, if you want to vote young, you can find them on the SP lists. The most important news of these elections is that a quarter of a million compatriots will vote for the first time, so they have taken on a historical weight, as does the fact that this is the mandate that will give every Albanian a European passport," said Balla.

Balla rejected claims of nepotism in the selection of some candidates, saying that it is ridiculous to put the father on the list, as some small parties are doing, and not the opposite, that the younger generations continue the tradition of their fathers.

"No one said anything about the fact that after George Bush, the son was elected. It's funny when you're alone and put your father on the list. Everyone represents themselves, it doesn't matter whose son or daughter you are. In the SP lists, there is a completely different approach. Everyone has a reason why they are on that list. We also have representatives of the diaspora on our list, who have achieved their successes in their efforts to integrate into the respective societies where they emigrated and now return as worthy representatives of the community that will vote for them en masse. It is important not to put the father on the list," Balla said.

Balla recalled that the Socialist Party has supported justice reform.

"If it weren't for the Socialist Party, the establishment of SPAK, GJKKO and all these institutions that deserve respect would not have happened. The SP is the only guarantee that these institutions will do their job. There is a party that vows to undo them. The same principle applies to the Veliaj case: as long as we don't have a court decision, the presumption of innocence applies." Balla concluded his interview with Klan News from Crete, where a large meeting with Albanians will be held tomorrow with the participation of Prime Minister Rama, and then the tour continues in Athens, Balla said. /CNA
