"I apologize publicly"/ Peleshi: I did not intend to evaluate Enver

The Speaker of the Parliament, Niko Peleshi, has explained the material distributed by the Parliament regarding figures born in October, including the dictator Enver Hoxha. The Speaker of the Parliament has asked for a public apology.

Peleshi said that the issue has been addressed and that the goal was not to honor Hoxha's figure, but that the material was published according to the encyclopedic dictionary without interpretation.

 

" I feel obliged to inform you about a material prepared by the Library of Parliament. I have considered it very seriously and I apologize because I did not intend to honor or appreciate any figure, much less Enver Hoxha, who was only mentioned for his date of birth.

The presentation of the material was taken without interpretation from the encyclopedic dictionary, which has created concern among the victims' families. For this reason, I have asked the Library to ensure that the materials are technically and politically correct.

"I have asked the Assembly Institute to review the library's policies. I have asked the Secretary for a proposal material for the research work of the Assembly and the library to guarantee neutrality ," Peleshi said./ CNA
