The Socialist Party Assembly in Vlora held a meeting today to introduce Brunilda Mersini, the candidate who will run for mayor. She was officially introduced to all SP structures in Vlora.

Also present during the presentation was the political leader of the Vlora district, Bledi Çuçi, who, accompanied by Mersini, gave a statement to the media. Çuçi said that after the officialization of the candidate, the organization of the campaign work has begun.

"After the officialization of candidate Bruna Mersini in the leadership of the SP yesterday in Tirana, we immediately started organizing the work for the campaign for the election of the mayor of Vlora. I am satisfied with the entire mobilization of the SP structure in Vlora and I am convinced that we will achieve positive results," said Çuçi.

Mersini also spoke to journalists where she said that if elected mayor, she will create bridges of communication for Vlora citizens and transform Vlora into a city that will be attractive not only during the summer season but also in winter.

"The first feeling of running for office is definitely emotion, but also dedication and responsibility. When I made the decision to run for MP, it was one of the most difficult decisions because I was forced to leave the profession of a doctor. Then I saw that in that profession I was helping a small group of people. While in the capacity of mayor, I will have the opportunity to build more bridges of communication for the community.

When I learned that I would be a candidate, I thought that Vlora is a city that has dynamics. We expect to make Vlora an open door to Europe, an economic and industrial brand, and to be a livable city even in winter. Being the first woman is challenging and a sense of responsibility that you have to leave the good name of a woman. The trust that the citizens gave me was an impetus and I promise that I will do my best for them, " said Mersini./CNA
